Gearboxes

For about 40 years, Liebherr has been developing, designing and producing high-performance, versatile travel drives (FAT), slewing drives (DAT) and swiveling drives (SAT) for many applications. They are characterised by their outstanding quality and excellent reliability. Every year, tens of thousands of planetary gearboxes leave the Liebherr factory in Biberach/Riss (Germany) and Dalian (China) and successfully stand up to the hostile operating conditions in machinery and equipment of customers both inside and outside the company group.

Applications for the exhibited travel drive can be crawler excavators, crawler cranes, drilling rigs, construction and special cranes or mining equipment with crawler running gear, as well as special machines like pipeline equipment.

Travel and swiveling drives are usually driven hydraulically, the right hydraulic motors from Liebherr are provided in the scope of delivery. The travel gearbox exhibit at bauma China is powered by two DMVA flange-mounted motors. The swiveling drive is powered by a FMF motor.

The exhibit travel drive is representative for the series, which includes 11 gearbox sizes from the FAT 325 to the FAT 1600 in two versions - for crawler excavators or for crawler cranes. The coaxial planetary gearboxes are available as three-stage or four-stage units with a multitude of different gear ratios ranging from i=59 to i=497. Depending on the application and the underlying load collectives, the maximum dynamic output torque is up to 3,450 kNm.

The travel drive is designed with gear ratio 1:54 and the weight of it is about 1,850 kg. The maximum static output torque is 170,300 Nm.

SAT 325

The SAT 325 with a long output shaft is an example of the majority of swivelling drives manufactured by Liebherr, is designed with gear ratio 1:36 and is used in a wide range of hydraulic, material handling and mobile excavators. The tooth system and the bearings are designed for high dynamic loads in order to fulfill the service life expectancy. In the basic version the gearbox is prepared for the Liebherr FMF 90 - a hydraulic plug-in motor with a fixed displacement. The maximum static output torque of the swiveling drive is 25,300 Nm.
